Our priority is serving families with minors in the home though we sometimes will also post seniors in need and military families in need.  

How do I know if I've been posted for adoption on Facebook?

We are not a social agency, church, non-profit organization or a business, just a small group of volunteers trying to connect people. We do our best to vet the adoption requests, but do not have all the tools available like larger programs. As with anything online, please use caution, common sense when chatting with and meeting offline.

Adopt a Family Angles has a mission to connect individuals, families, and businesses with families in need during the Holiday.

In 2014 this program was founded by Tonya and her introductory Facebook post says it best:

“It's easy to forget or choose not to think about all the families that are in need. Not just during the holidays but every day. I decided after reading about so many families who are looking to be "adopted" for Christmas to make a page and challenge my friends and family to help another family this holiday season. It is so easy to look the other way, or say "I don't have time" or "someone else will do it" but what if YOU did it. There are children out there who are so excited for Santa to come but the parents are stressing out on how they can give their children a Merry Christmas. I am not asking for huge gifts or a lot of gifts...just something for a family so their children won't be disappointed on Christmas. I challenge YOU to help a family this year. Thank you!” Tonya

The website is run by Tonya and a small group of Volunteers who are wanting to help people connect with needy families so that their children may enjoy the holidays without the stress of adult issues. All of us are working parents and we work on matching families in the evenings.

We open the window to apply November 1st.  You can apply between November 1 and November 14th on this site.

We will begin posting families to be adopted on November 1st on our Facebook page  

We all want the best for our kids and loved ones, but we do have to keep in mind of those who are volunteering to donate their time and hard earned money.

To increase your changes of being adopted, ask for things like necessities (cloths, food, candy, gift cards etc.) or reasonably priced items (ex. kids toys, painting supplies, books, gift cards etc.)

Asking for expensive items (ex. XBox, Hoverboards, etc.) will result in your request being discarded

Our program does NOT allow requests for money or help with bills, car payments, ect.

Yes, you can adopt more than one family.  We have many family groups, church groups, ect that adopt more than one family.  Just fill out the request form with a comma separating the family ID's you are looking to adopt.

Yes, you can nominate a family.  Just let us know in the form that you are nominating a family and why.

Since all coordination is between the Sponsor and the family they adopt the two parties determine what works best for each situation.

Adopt a Family Angel's - Minnesota does not itself specify a date requirement.

Whave no official protocol as all communication after we provide the contact information is between the two parties, but suggest allowing them 48 hours to contact you. If you haven't heard from them in 48 hours, it it fine if you'd like to reach out and introduce yourself.

SW Submission means that a social worker has sent us this family to post for adoption

If you have reached out to the family you sponsored and have not heard back in at least 48 hours, please contact us.  We will attempt to contact them and ask that they reach out to both you our program.  If the family does not respond to our inquiry within 24 hours, the adoption be canceled and they will not be allowed to be reposted and you can choose if you would like to help another family.

Once you submit the form, you will see a confirmation on the screen.  You will also receive a confirmation email to the address provided

If you are selected to be posted, we will contact you via email and provide you your family ID#. 

While you are allowed to apply to for our program at they same time you are applying for others, you are not allowed to be adopted by by another program along with ours.  If you are adopted by another program, you must notify us immediately.  If you do not notify us and we find that you have been adopted by another program and ours, your adoption will be canceled and you will be banned from our program.  

If adopted we will email you and put you in contact with the donor and the details/specifics are worked out between all of you.  It is suggested you reply to your sponsor within 48 hours so they know you received their initial communication.

1.       Fill out the request to be adopted form on this page

2.       Requests will be allowed Nov 1 – Nov 14^th only.

3.       While we do allow requests from others, our priority is serving families with minors in the home, seniors and military families needing help. 

4.        Please make sure when submitting on our website you include your children’s ages, genders and interests/needs

5.    We are unable to accept requests that only have a PO Box

6.       Do not ask for big ticket (expensive) items (ie:XBOX, computer, hoverboard, ect)  We also do not allow request for money or help with any type of bill.  If you apply with one of these you will not get posted. 

7.       After you apply, you will see a confirmation screen noting successful submission and receive an email confirming receipt. 

8.       We will not contact you further unless your family is posted to the Facebook page for public review

9.       If you are selected to be posted we will contact you via email and provide your family ID#

10.       If we need to contact you for any reason (after we've sent your family ID#) you have 24 hours to respond to our email, if we do not hear back, we will pull the posting/cancel the adoption and move on to the next family. 

11.   Refrain from commenting on the Facebook posting or any other posting you are familiar with.  Failure to do so will cause your posting to be cancelled and you will be banned from the program

12.   We reserve the right to deny any requests for any reason in order to protect our donors

13.   If we have any questions we will contact you

14.   Please don’t send us questions ie: if we’ve heard anything, ect.  We work full time jobs and have kids and primarily work on matching up families at night.  We don’t have time for additional questions.

15.   We cross reference with similar programs in the state. While you are allowed to apply to multiple programs, you are NOT allowed to be adopted by another program along with ours. IF YOU ARE ADOPTED BY ANOTHER PROGRAM, YOU MUST NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY. If you do not notify us and we find that you are, your adoption will be canceled and you will be banned from our program.  

16.   IF adopted we will put you in contact with the donor and the details/specifics are worked out between all of you 
We are not able to post every applicant and we do not guarentee adoption, if you are posted.

17.   Donors are under no obligation to give more than they can and they are not required to fill the entire ‘wish list’.  Donations are at their discretion. We kindly ask that you don’t take advantage of their generosity

18.   If a donor feels they are being scammed or taken advantage of, they can contact us and your adoption may be cancelled.  If the adoption is canceled in this way you will be banned from our program.

We don't post names or any of the personal information you use to apply when we post the request to the FB page. We only give your name to the family who adopts you.

Yes, as long as they are still in High School they are still able to participate in this program.

You are under no obligation to give more than you can and are not required to give everything on the wish list.  We encourage our sponsors only to give what they feel reasonable and what fits in their budget.

If you get any 'red flags' from the family you adopted.  Please conctact us with your concerns

This can include (but is not limited to) a family suddenly asking for expensive items that weren't on their original request, asking for money, asking for help paying bills.  We do not allow for these types of requests in our program.

1.       Scroll through the families listed on our Facebook page and find one that you would like to help

2.       Comment on that post and make note of the ID#

3.       Come to the adopt a family website and fill out the adoption form

4.       If no family posted fits what you are looking for, please fill out the form, leaving ID blank and let us know what you need (City or Area, number of members in family, Senior, Military, ect)

5.       Please allow a MINIMUM of 48 hours for our volunteers to reply to your request to adopt, we will provide you the contact information for your family.  Exchange of gifts is worked out between you and the family you adopt

6.    Once we provide your family contact information, it's suggested (but not required) to contact the family within 48 hours for initial contact, if possible

7.       If you are having trouble getting a reply from your adoptee, you must contact us and let us know.  We will contact them and they will have 24 hours to reply to you and us.  If they do not reply, the adoption will be canceled.  You may choose to adopt another family if you'd like as well.

8.       You are under no obligation to give more than you can and you are not required to give everything on the ‘wish list’

10.       If you get any ‘red’ flags while working with your families, you are under no obligation to follow through.  However, please contact us with your concerns and do not just ghost your family

Yes, we allow some gifts to the family to be gently used.  Please make sure they are in great condition and work as they would new out of the box.
